Mossberg Firearms

While primarily known for their shotguns, Mossberg has manufactured many rifles and carbines over the years. The Mossberg 464, the spiritual successor to the famed Winchester 94, is no exception to the quality and reliability that Mossberg is known for. Now, with sights and an optic mount from XS Sights, your Mossberg 464 will be ready for your next hunt!

The Mossberg 464 is factory equipped with sights that are small and hard to see in anything but the brightest of lighting conditions. XS Sights offers durable ghost ring sights and Lever Scout mounting rails to enhance your sighting needs.

XS Sights Ghost Ring sights feature a robust rear sight that is fully adjustable for windage and elevation. The CNC machined steel sight body is durable enough to provide a lifetime of use in the harshest conditions. The XS white stripe front sight is a machined steel base that is blued and finished with a painted white stripe. The white-on-black design is highly visible in all lighting conditions and contrasts against any color background.

The XS Sights Lever Scout Mount is machined from aircraft grade aluminum alloy and is hard anodized to create a lightweight rail that will withstand the harshest conditions you can throw at it. The mil standard 1913 picatinny rail dimensions offer consistent spacing and accurate dimensions to work with your choice of scope rings. The Lever Scout mount is ideal for a scout scope or a red dot optic.

When you’re ready to upgrade your Mossberg 464, XS Sights has your covered with our American Made sight upgrades!

Mossberg History

Oscar Frederick Mossberg and his sons, Iver and Harold, founded the O.F. Mossbeg & Sons company in 1919. Mossberg had emigrated to the United States in 1886 from Sweden. After working for many of the most well-known firearm manufacturers of the late 1800’s, Mossberg and his sons founded their own company in 1919.

Mossberg’s initial product, the Brownie, was a four shot, .22 caliber pocket pistol intended for humanely dispatching wounded or trapped animals. 37,000 Brownie pistols were manufactured from 1920-1932. The success of the Brownie allowed the Mossberg family to expand their product offerings. The company elected to focus on sporting arms and is well known for their shotguns.

Mossberg’s best-known product, the M500 series of shotguns, was released in 1961. While primarily intended for sporting use, the high quality and affordable price of the M500 quickly gained the attention of law enforcement agencies nationwide. This was followed by the introduction of the 590, intended for military usage, and the 590A1, which was accepted as the primary shotgun for the U.S. military in 1987.

In January 2019, Mossberg re-entered the handgun market with the Mossberg MC1sc – a subcompact, polymer framed, striker fired pistol. The MC1sc was noted as being a reliable, accurate and affordable pistol for the self-defense market. The MC2c, a compact model, followed in 2020.

Mossbeg, under the leadership of Alan Iver Mossberg, Jr., is still owned by the Mossberg family, and is continuing their legacy of manufacturing quality firearms.
